Communication can be visual, verbal, written or in audio form. Visual communication seems to be the most powerful form, Anything that catches attention through vision raises awareness. Logos are everywhere, they define companies, brands and help people distinguish what they are seeing including its purpose. Every TV station/product has a logo making visual communication the foundation of communication in America. Images are necessary for visual communication and most important. Images are simple to break down and easy to relate to. When the viewer can see an image as well as make sense of it, makes it simple for the viewer. Simple is key, a company would not one to confuse anyone or make them think more. Overall you want the viewer to understand.
Nike, Coca-Cola, and apple have strong visual communication. Having a logo that separates itself from other brands is important. This is because of a company just copy's another logo people will not respect it and possibly not pay attention to it. No one likes knock offs or copy cats. Nike's JUST DO IT logo does not just refer to athletes but to everyone. Just do it has a positive aspect to it and requires people to take action. When a logo has a an action base origin it helps, because its catchy. The logo gives energy and everyone can use some energy. Coca-Cola has always been a strong logo. The red circle brings a dominant look to the logo and the script Coca-Cola letters requires you to read it because of the effectiveness of red. Using red has been a strategy for decades and Coca-Cola is a part of that. Red catches people off guard and requires yo to stop and look just like a stop sign. Red logos have always been powerful for example the red cross. Red raises awareness. This logo has been dominating for 125 years proving its relevance and importance to American culture.
The last logo that has been noticeable in the past 12 years is Apple. This logo is simple, an apple that has been bitten in to. It has no relation to the technology, but the simplicity catches peoples eye. Simple is always important and the fact that you are associating an apple with technology is fun. When a viewer sees the apple they are most likely associating it with a complete very well rounded piece of technology, even perfect. Of course this is because of the customer service and high demand of most apple products mainly the "iPhone".
Overall visual communication is key and the origin of communication. Companies understand this and that's why logos are a serious matter. A logo can take up to a year to fully develop. Logos define companies and their overall image. For example Coca-Cola has been dominating for years and they have a very strong logo which is a huge part of the reason. Logos will continue to be around forever, they shape culture and are all around us. Visual communication will continue to impact the world for the future to come.Buffalo state college
